I remember when Jenni Kayne ads/ magazines first arrived in my mailbox. I paged through them and loved the aesthetic. The price-tag, however, was disappointingly far out of my budget. I scoured resale sites, but I could never find a good deal. I decided that Jenni Kayne was just for inspiration, and that was that.
Fast-forward 4 or 5 years (and a few kids).
Since about 5 months postpartum with my last baby, I’ve been (obsessively) browsing eBay and Poshmark, and I’ve been lucky enough to have finally found some Jenni Kayne pieces at great prices. This cotton fisherman sweater is one of those pieces. I picked up this gently used sweater in navy for $65. Here are my thoughts.
This sweater is a size small, which is my current size per the Jenni Kayne size chart. When I first put this sweater on, I was immediately in love. It was so comfortable. The heavier weight cotton created a fabulous drape that didn’t accentuate my uneven breastfeeding breasts or my persistent mom belly. The shorter length was flattering and easily front-tucked. The navy is beautiful and so versatile. I have a hard time figuring out what to wear with jeans these days, and this sweater honestly made me feel so put together, it just lifted my mood.
Now, for $65, this sweater is a no-brainer. But it retails for $375. I’ve seen sales for 20% off not infrequently, but that doesn’t make a huge dent. If price isn’t a dealbreaker for you, then totally give this sweater a try, I’m sure you’ll love it (it does have raving reviews for a reason, and you can always return it). Knowing what I know about it, I’d be willing to pay in the $100’s, probably $150 or so. And honestly, I probably will pick it up in another color – when I can find a used one.
